How many times over the last decade or so have you sat with your close friends trying to look like you are intensely listening to their conversation, but really what you’re trying to determine is have they, or have they not, had some (work) done…. Now, I hear you saying.. “I would never, never do that!!!!!” However, after more than 3 decades of saying absolutely NO to having any cosmetic work done – I have a confession – I’m now a secret ‘user’ – or should I say a committed client to one of Sydney’s very best cosmetic injectors at Cosmedical!
I am a 50+ female who has grown-up surrounded by beauty products and have a wonderful, professional career spanning both mainstream, as well as the prestige segments, of the cosmetic industry – flogging high performance skincare with passion and conviction. For years and years, Sally Lomax (injector extraordinaire) and I have discussed and debated our various – and at times opposite – perspectives from both sides of the controversial ant-ageing divide. But, finally wisdom (or maybe exhaustion) has become our overriding companion and we now feel very comfortable acknowledging that both cosmetic surgery enhancements, and skincare, are mainstream and both play a vital role in defining how we feel about (and see) ourselves …
Gone are the days that there is only one completely frozen look from injectables – this is no longer fashionable. I’ve listened to Sally and Bec Boberg consulting to their clients and it‘s always wonderful to hear them say “you will not look different, you will just look like a better version of you” – and this is so true!!!
I resisted and resisted until I could resist no more. Whilst there is a lot more I could have done, I am much happier with the face I see staring back at me in the mirror, after the girls have plumped my lips a little and softened my very serious frown lines.
Like most things to do with and well- being and beauty the earlier you start the better your long-term results will be. So, ideally Cosmedical recommend that the best results are achieved between the ages of 35 – 55. But, once deep wrinkles have formed, and whilst these can be softened, they will not completely disappear.
As we age our facial contours sink and our face becomes hollow – Dermal Fillers will help plump the skin for a more youthful, smoother appearance. This procedure can create fuller lips, pad out hollow cheeks and eyes, and lift the bracket lines that run from the corner of the nose to the corner of the mouth.
Unless you spend your life expressionless or wearing a face-bra, as per Ally McBeal (showing my age and propensity to bad TV), as you age, expression lines are a certainty. Muscle Relaxers, or Botulinum Toxin will temporarily “paralyse” the muscle. This will prevent the movement in the skin expression lines from forming. Sally and Bec, can administer the dose to your requirements – meaning if you want to look incredibly natural a smaller dose will be injected.
Other skin treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels can help reduce fine lines, small scars, skin discolouration’s and are essential twice a year to give your skin an overhaul, for fresher, dewier healthy looking complexion……
As we slip slowly into our midlife ‘crisis’ or more accurately ‘realignment’, I think it is now time to embrace those minor improvements we simply need, to feel good about ourselves.
I am now out of the closet!
Until next time Margo x
